Anie Khang
Co-Founder / Head of Creatives Services Department / Creative Services Director /Event Planner & Set Designer / Wardrobe Specialist
Hi, my name is Anie Khang and I am the Creative Director at The Eclectic.
When I was invited to become the co-founder of The Eclectic, I was super excited because I was able to do things that mattered a lot to me without the pressures of being an “expert” in my field.
I have been planning events all of my life and recently have moved onto adding set design and photography set-up/coordination to my list of creative arts. Even though I have been doing this for over almost a decade of my life now, I still find myself growing and perfecting my craft in ways that I never imagined. To some, this may be “unprofessional” but what really is professional and unprofessional? As I grow up, I realize that I value transparency over the overrated term of professionalism. And, that is why I love my role here at The Eclectic because I’m allowed to be just me.
As humans, we take on many roles and identities that make our lives fun and fulfilling. I identify as an event planner, a set designer, a business partner, a political and environmental scientist, a sister, cousin, niece, daughter, Hmong womxn, and the list can go on and on. However, one of the roles that I take most pride in is being a student of life.
Taking on the role of a student has allowed me to live life happily without shame and guilt. It has allowed me to see life through a lens of humility, humbleness, patience, and gentleness. I am allowed to challenge the norm and question the uncomfortable truths of our society. I bring this unique outlook of life to The Eclectic in hopes that I can inspire all those that walk through our doors to live life in a way that you are willing to learn and mess up.
I celebrate the flaws and imperfections of humanity and hold our kind accountable so that we can improve as a species together. It takes a lot of courage to step into the role of a student and admit that you aren’t an expert at everything right away. It’s scary to know that everyone makes mistakes that can alter the trajectory of our lives. However, it’s a role that makes life much more worth living.
I love to learn from others who live lives completely different from mine. It is through my work at The Eclectic that I am able to take a step into someone else’s life and create a positive and meaningful impact in how they view themselves in the best ways imaginable. My hope is to bridge human connections and experiences through my work with nature and other human relationships so that we can learn from one another to be better humans.
As I am learning, I encourage you all to come and learn with me about humanity, love, grace, and patience with the natural world that we live in. Through portraits and events, I am hoping to capture authentic moments that bring life to us. So, let’s all be students of life together at The Eclectic!!
