Hello friends! My name is Kia and I’m a licensed cosmetologist of 13 years. Seriously, 13 years!? Can you believe it? I attended the Minnesota School of Cosmetology and shortly after graduating I started at a local premiere salon where I specialized in haircutting for the first 5 years of my career. Once I made the leap of faith to start my own business I started learning from other hairstylists who did the types of beautiful hair colors I wanted to do as well. I have been absolutely in love with the beauty industry since I was 14. I’ll never forget being in awe watching my very first makeup tutorials on Youtube. I absolutely loved it and my mom really pushed me to take a career in beauty seriously. I believe that beauty should always, always, be catered for the person that is the wearer. I don’t believe that trends should be the sole dictator of what a person should do with their hair, makeup, or wardrobe. For me, personality, lifestyle, and personal style always comes first. Trends come and go but what you love deep down in your soul, that shit is forever. That shit is golden. That will never ever be able to be replicated or replaced.

I strive to create a safe space for anyone who comes and sits in my chair to feel listened to, cared for, and understood. I believe that beauty starts with self love and is the ultimate form of self care. I love celebrating my client’s individuality and authenticity to be who they are. There is no greater form of beauty than that my friend. Being able to help people be their truest self and achieve their highest form of self is a privilege and an honor. I love having deep serious talks with my clients and I also enjoy having more light playful conversations as well. If you need to have a service of silence I would also be ok with that. At the end of the day, this is your safe space.

I specialize in customer care more than anything, however I’m sure you’re also dying to know about my technical skills. When it comes to beauty I do not like to be neutral. Staying in the middle bores me. I like either doing complete 180 transformations or I enjoy doing soft and delicate looks. Whether it's hair or makeup I really do enjoy both ends of the spectrum. I often tell people that my personality and taste in beauty often looks like two personalities coexisting. I like doing edgy haircuts with lots of layers and textures. Bold hair colors and complete bleach outs. While on the other hand I love soft long layers that look effortless. I love natural hair colors that look like the sun has kissed your hair yet another day. Soft makeup looks that almost make you look ethereal and surreal. I like having a lot of fun at the end of the day. Beauty is all about having fun in my opinion.

Besides being in the salon I love camping, hiking, and cooking. I love being around my family and all of my pets (ask me how many pets I have if you’re ever in the salon). I am passionate about helping people from all walks of life. I hate cruelty towards Earth, humans, and animals. I love listening to all sorts of music (trust me on this one, my playlist is all over the place). I am one of six kids and I am 100% proud to be a Hmong woman.

I am always thankful and grateful for all of those who have sat in my chair whether it be the past, present, or future. I thank you all and I hope I can continue to be your beauty bestie.
